Multiple DLSMusicDevices will crash logic pro x

I kept having this problem, put in a bug report, maybe this is useful? :

DLSMusicDevice and core audio initialization

Created on August 31 2017, 8:27 AM for Other

Summary:

Multiple DLSMusicDevices will repeatedly crash logic pro x. A core audio work around fixes this.

Steps to Reproduce:

Open a multi-instrument midi file (one is included), and logic Pro will try to map the different instruments to logic Pro library instruments. Often the mapping fails, as for instance, a GM drum may have a kick on note B0, but sometimes the library drums do not follow GM MIDI mappings. So we have to change multiple instruments to play general midi sounds. We select the DLS music device for multiple instruments.

I notice all the tracks are set to channel 1, even though all the MIDI notes etc. are on different channels. So looking in the MIDI event list I remap the  tracks with the DLS music device to the channel that the notes and control information are on.

Save the project. Often the MIDI file will play at this point, however, sometimes it will also crash.

Quit logic.

Reopen the project, and try to play. It should crash.

Reopen the project. Cause core audio to be re-initialized. I do this, I think I do this, by changing the audio I/O buffer size, then hit apply in that audio preferences panel, and a little dialog box comes up and says it is initializing core audio. Now it will play without crashing. This little core audio initializing step must be done each time the project is opened, for it not to crash. If there is only one DLS music device this core audio initializing step can be omitted.

Expected Results:

It will crash upon re-opening the logic project, if the work around is not used.
