What are some common trade disputes on Alibaba.com?

Bad Product Quality

This refers to cases where the product is non-functional, partly-functional or simply does not live up to expectations.

Non-functional product examples:

· Mobile phones not working because of different transmission frequency 

· Songs cannot be stored into MP3 players

· DVD players not in customized language as required


Partly-functional product examples:

· Faulty USB cables for MP3 players

· Broken clock hands

· Mobile Phones with extremely short battery life

 
In cases like the above, the responsibility falls on the supplier to correct the problem(s). When reporting a trade dispute, please submit valid evidence such as proof or earlier correspondence, pictures or videos.


Counterfeit Goods

This refers to cases where the products are labeled with an unauthorized brand name or logo.

In cases of dispute:

· Both buyer and supplier will be held responsible if both parties knowingly trade in counterfeit goods

 · The buyer will be held responsible if the supplier provides valid and authorized evidence proving the authenticity of their products

 · The supplier will be held responsible if they fail to provide valid and authorized evidence proving the authenticity of their products or if guilt is admitted

 


Quantity Not As Described

This refers to cases where the buyer receives the items less than originally ordered.

Examples of items received less than originally ordered:

· Goods lacking in necessary parts

· Shortage of goods from the supplier

· The supplier ships the goods in batches

· The quantity description by the supplier is not accurate

· Empty package(s) received

In cases of dispute, the supplier will be held responsible if the buyer manages to provide valid evidence such as receipt of delivery, photos, etc.

 


Products Not As Described

This refers to cases where the products received are not as what was agreed upon.

Examples:

· Supplier shipped the wrong item

In cases of dispute, the supplier will be held responsible if the buyer manages to provide valid evidence such as receipt of delivery, photos, etc.

· The received goods are damaged


In cases of dispute, the buyer will be held responsible if he/she accepts delivery even though the outer packaging is damaged. For damages to the products, the supplier will be held responsible provided that valid evidence such as photos and/or videos are available.
