2017 iPad Pro 12.9"

My new 2017 12.9" iPad Pro 256GB Wi-Fi has been getting very hot on and around the Home Button only when I use my Apple Pencil, and its becoming quite uncomfortable. If I'm holding my iPad up in portrait mode, its the lower third of the iPad thats getting very hot, but the heat is concentrated around the Home Button.

My previous 2015 12.9" iPad Pro did not have this problem, and so I'm definitely concerned. Anyone else having this problem?

I would make an appointment at your local apple store or authorized service provider and have them check it out. The heat benchmark is usually 'too hot to handle' meant quite literally. If it's too hot to hold comfortably then it's too hot.

and better to have it checked out while it's still under warranty rather than wait and possibly have something else happen or go wrong. Be sure to back it up before you take it in just in case they replace or work on yours.

I think thats a good idea. I'm going to make an appointment. Thanks for the advice.

Since I was within my return window, I ended up exchanging the iPad. Unfortunately, the replacement is having the same issue. Every time I use my Apple Pencil, heat begins to build on and around the home button.
