firewire to thunderbolt 3

I purchased a new iMac 2017 and was unaware that the thunderbolt ports are 3 and not 2.  I purchased the firewire to thunderbolt adapter and after receiving it, realized its wrong.

Someone suggested I get another adapter and go from TB2 to TB3.  This sounds ridiculous and should not have to be done.

Are there any options to run a firewire audio device(RME Fireface 800) to a new iMac 2017?
