apple music log in issue

Hi all so there seems to be a growing number of threads about Apple Music in ios 11.  My personal issue is that it will simply not let you log in and just says connection issue.  The problem seems to be related to anyone who has updated via the phone and not iTunes.  

Has anyone managed to resolve their issue or heard anything from Apple regarding this?
