Multi Output Device

Will there be a delay in different devices when they are hooked into a multi output device? The reason I am asking is, I am recording, and I want to be able to hear the audio at the same time as the person behind the mic, and when I do a latency test it is way higher when I use a multi output device rather than just sending the output through my audio interface.  I don't want to compensate for the delay, and find that my audio coming through the interface still has hardly any delay, and my computer audio is the one I'm compensating for and mess the recording up!

I hope you can get what I mean! My multi output setup includes: apogee duet to headphones, and computer output to Beats via a cord (not bluetooth).
