apps quitting on MacOS High Sierra.

Just purchased a new MacBook pro 13 inch and transferred my data using migration app. everything went fine until i began using some of the apps. I wanted to use Preview, it unexpectedly quit, and when I try to reopen, it continues to quit, so i had no choice but to cancel it. the same happened with adobe reader to open a pdf file. i went to system preferences and the same thing happened. how do i deal with this? at this point i can't use my new machine if every other app keeps on quitting on me.
