Predictive text

Several months ago my predictive text stopped working. There is not a white line on the grey bar, when I hold the emoji an option for predictive text does not appear, nor is it an option in the keyboard settings. It is simply greyed out. I would appreciate any advice, I feel as if I have tried everything!
