Batteries widget iOS  10.3.3 iPad Pro has ...

The "batteries" widget has vanished from my 10.5" iPad Pro, which I just bought a couple of days ago.  It was there and then it vanished.  I didn't do anything to make it vanish (upgrade or anything), it just vanished.  I have tried removing and restoring it, restarting my iPad, removing, restarting, and soft resetting the iPad, etc etc.  these things don't work.  It just doesn't show up anymore.  I would like to have a way to check the charge in my Apple Pencil.  Now I don't have one.  Where has the widget gone and how can I make it come back?
