Apple Pay in iOS 10 and iPhone 7 prompts for "C...
Why does Apple Pay prompt me for a "Contact Name Required" and "Shipping Contact" every time I try to use it now in iOS 10 on the iPhone 7?
I can't seem to find a way to set this info permanently in Apple Wallet for the card, so that I don't have to enter it every single time, which is really annoying.
Yes, I have this issue too.
How were your contacts synced, I had it through google but migrated everything over to iCloud and removed google but it hasn't helped.
I've always used iCloud for Contacts. I never had any issues with the previous iOS on my iPhone 6S. This problem started after upgrading to iOS 10 and the iPhone 7.
And another update and things seem to be worse now. I just checked my Wallet app and tried to look at my primary credit card, but when I click the info button, it crashes. I tried rebooting, but it still does it and Apple Pay doesn't appear to be working in apps. It doesn't come up at all in Eat24 app. The Panera app still does the annoying contact info thing, but it might work at least.
Yeah I should of mentioned I'm using a 7 too. I've not been having the info button issues. Apple Pay is appearing in all apps for me, but having to put in contact name every time.
Have you got any other accounts linked to Contacts, I have Facebook on my Mac and iPhone. LinkedIn on my Mac.
I've tried deleting 'my card' in Contacts and starting afresh but that still hasn't worked.
I've not seen anyone/anywhere else report this issue, have you?
No, I haven't seen anyone else with the problem nor reports of it anywhere online (here or Macrumors) yet.
Have you verified your settings in Settings->Wallet & Apple Pay-> Transaction Defaults ??
I have those set on mine, but it still has the problem with requesting contact name.
My other problem seems to persist even if I add another card. It always crashes the wallet app or the settings app if I try to view the card information. I think I'll have to do a support request.
Between this and the "No Service" issues, I am not too happy with the 7 and iOS 10 so far.
Yeah my details are all set in 'Transaction Defaults'.
I guess you're in the US then? I'm in the UK so it can't be anything to do with specific bank accounts/cards.
I'll do that too, let me know how yours goes.
There's some info here about where the data gets queried from: https://developer.apple.com/library/content/ApplePay_Guide/CreateRequest.html
But I can't find where exactly it would be pulling it from
Yes, I'm in the US.
I think I need to first deal with the Wallet crashing issue as it seems more significant since Apple Pay won't work at all in most apps now.
I did a support request last night to report the issue and mostly retried stuff I had already tried. Finally, ended up doing a factory reset and reload (something I wanted to avoid). After restoring and setting up the device and Apple Pay, I checked the wallet, and it still crashes when trying to view card info.
I'll have to reopen the support request. I don't know what else can be done other than replace the phone now.
With regard to your reference, I presume it should be populate the default data from the Transaction Defaults, but it's not for some reason. This seems like a bug of some sort. I don't know what is unique about our devices/configurations that other people aren't experiencing it.
I have the same issue, iOs 10.02, iPhone 6.. EVERY time I want to use ApplePay it asks for my contact information, and
also formats it backwards...
Imy having this problem; upgraded to ios10 on my 6s---never had this before upgrading and use Apple pay all the time with Panera App
Is anyone else having an issue with viewing the details on their credit cards in the Wallet app and/or Apple Pay not working at all in most apps?
I went thru a long visit at the Apple store to tried several things and it turns out to be an iCloud issue on my account.
I tried setting up on an new phone they gave me and it wouldn't even give me the ability to use Apple Pay at first. The Apple Pay features disappeared after I logged in on to iCloud during initial setup. The Wallet and Apple Pay item in Settings completely disappeared. The techs there were baffled.
One had the idea to turn off 2-factor authentication on my account and try doing a factory reset on the new device. So we tried that and voila, the Apple Pay and Wallet features returned and it no longer crashed when accessing the app. Apple Pay suddenly worked as usual in apps.
I tried doing a factory reset on my old phone and setup as new (with 2FA still off), and everything worked this time. Then when I got home, I tried doing a factory reset and restoring from iCloud (again, with 2FA still off), and I'm now back to the same problem. The info doesn't appear properly in Panera app and Apple Pay doesn't work at all in most other apps. The wallet app crashes when I try to open the credit card info tab.
So... I'm left with a choice of factory reset and setup as a new device, then lose all of my many gigabytes of Messages and all sorts of app data OR go without a functional Apple Pay.
I'm rather disappointed.
i am having the same issue.
I spoke to apple support and they were saying that it was changes in the way the iPhone 7 handles apple pay security that some apps/merchants have not updated to be compatible with it.
"Spoke to my Senior Advisor about this and this seems to be a security feature that can not be turned off."
"It is a feature on the IPhone 7 I have looked into if this is the way that it is designed and it seems like it is."
I clarified that it was working fine in some apple pay supported apps and this was subsequent conversation:
"Are they using an out dated version of the api or something?"
Replies:
"It could be, that is the thing when we roll out new Operating systems, some issues arise with other providers that may not have complete compatibility with our new software."
"That does sound like it on that provider if it works in some places. I apologize i was assuming it was every use."I would actually see if this clears up within the next 2-3 months. Like I said it is a compatibility issue, other providers have to catch up to the update."
"I am pretty sure that more providers will update their software to enhance this feature."
"If it is a certain card you could contact that provider, but the issue here more than likely falls with the merchant not having up to date software, which is triggering the security feature."
I've contacted one of the apps support teams where I'm getting the issue and will see what they say.
Hi JamilG,
You've mentioned that Apple Pay was working fine on some of the apps that support it. Could you please let me know which apps are those?
