How to add .mkv videos to iTunes?

Hi everybody,

I want to add my movies to iTunes movie library but it doesn't let me to add .mkv files:(

Anyone can help?

I don't know much about .mkv  I believe it is a package format.  If you're lucky you can open it in a program such as Streamclip and re-save it as .mp4, but that's only if the enclosed codecs work in .mp4  Otherwise you'll have to use one of the many free (or I am sure eventually somebody who makes one that costs money but basically does the same as the free ones will eventually post here as hidden advertising) transcoders to re-code it to a format playable by iTunes.

iTunes doesn't accept .mkv-format videos. Try:

• Using Handbrake to convert the video. This might be better if you understand how video formats work. https://handbrakeformac.com

To add mkv videos to itunes ,you'd better convert MKV to iTunes supported MP4 or MOV.
