Transferring data on a new SSD

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry if this question has already been asked on separate occasions, but I found somewhat confusing answers and would be very thankful if someone could help me out with instructions.

I am running a Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite. I recently purchased a new 500GB SSD which I want to install instead of the factory drive. I have an up-to-date Time Machine backup, on a third, external, hard disk drive. I have a Wi-Fi connection at home.

My question is: after I physically insert the new SSD on my MacBook, what is the best day to transfer all the data from my previous hard disk? My goal would be to have everything (software, files and OS X version), as it is know, on my new drive.

Is it possible to do it just with the OS X Recovery and Time Machine features? [I stress that it would be important for me to keep the same OS X Yosemite version]. Or do I have to use third party software, like a disk cloner? Or is it just impossible?

Thanks to all!
