Looking for advice on new ext. Monitor purchase...

Hey all,

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017). I'm looking for an external monitor to work with at my desk, but I want to make sure I'm getting the best possible resolution from the monitor, and also future proofing myself a bit. I opted for the Radeon Pro 560 w/ 4GB of mem.

It seems like USB type-C monitors are the way to go for performance. My question is, it seems like there's currently a limited number of monitors available on the market that accept USB type-C. I currently have an older Dell monitor that's served me fine with my last, older setup using a 2011 MBP. Should I wait until the manufacturers start to put out more USB-C compatible monitors and use the old Dell, or should I spend money on what's out there right now?

Obviously there's always the question of budget, and willingness to spend the money for high-end equipment. Personally, I don't mind buying something that fits my requirements and will suit me for years to come. I'm not really interested in being an early adopter.

If anyone has any experience pairing their new 2017 MBP with a new monitor please share, tell me about your setup. Thanks in advance.
