Night shift alternative for older ipads

TO my great disappointment like many other ipad 2,3,4 users I discovered after I upgraded to iOS 9.3 today night shift is not available for my device. I already wrote my complaint to Apple feedback. Does anyone know of an alternative for night shift without jail breaking the device?

thanks.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom
  2. Turn on Zoom
  3. Using three fingers, quickly tap three times anywhere on the iPhone or iPad’s screen.
  4. Tap on Choose Filter
  5. Select Low Light

HI jim dk,

THat is pretty helpful. Not sure how that compares to f.lux or night shift but it's better than nothing.

I Tried this - the low light setting is very dark, and of course it only darkens the window. Also, I just checked the App Store and f.lux is not available for iPhone or iPad. There are NO low-light/yellow light filter apps available, except for sketchy browser only ones that I don't trust. Apple has cornered the market on this function and I guess those of us with older iPads are SOL if we want to work at night without jeopardizing our sleep. I have an alarm set to turn off my screens at 10 pm but do I always do that?       Ha ha...

The only solution seems to be to lower the screen brightness manually, which of course doesn't eliminate the blue light. Or get a newer device, which is what they really want us to do. Does anyone sell a physical yellow screen filter that snaps on to an iPad screen for night use?

Here is one

It's hurting I can't use iphone 5 anymore

Why exactly can't you use your iPhone 5 any longer?

Just turn down your screen brightness at night.

I use my iPod Touches and my older iPads at less than 50% screen brightness.

I can still use my older iDevices at night and the reduced screen brightness is less strain on my eyes and extends my iDevices' battery life.

I also have a ios 9.3.5 ipad and tottaly surprised there is NO blue light filter for my device in appstore. Because on android, there are too many, in any versions. An apple product again? NO!
Some users suggests Screen Protector, and an another user does simply not know the difference between screen brightness and screen color filtering... Like a joke..

Please go and buy yourself an android device, so you can understand.

Sincerely...
