Songs skip when played on iPhone7

I've recently experienced an issue with songs skipping to the next track around 20 seconds before the end. This is sporadic and tends to affect particular playlists compiled in iTunes and then synced to the phone.

Happens with iOS11  and 11.0.1 but also in older versions on both iPhone6 & 5.

The music files will be mp3 from Bandcamp or direct from label via download cards.

When the song skips the phone will show the previous song whilst playing the next one, and you can pause and then restart the song which will then play to the end.
