OSX Locks File Share Folders Randomly

I manage our digital assets for our company, mostly photographs and video. I have been encountering a problem on our file share server in which as I'm working on a folder (usually re-naming or moving the folder and it's subfolders into storage) OS X locks folder items and requests that I input an admin username and password.

My IT support will not give me an admin username or password to immediately resolve the issue, and says even with this information it will keep happening. They cannot give me a clear answer as to why this is happening, continues to happen, or why an admin password wouldn't solve the issue.

My IT support suggests that it is because multiple users are on the file share at once. At most, there are four people, including myself, working on the file share. Rarely are any of us working on the same folder at once, and I am never working on the same folder as the other employees. Usually the folder I am working on is a few months old.

My IT support has also suggested it is the Finder view I prefer to use (columns) and to use lists, but that has also not resolved the issue.

I have not set the lock on the folder, nor have my fellow employees.

I'm at my wit's end! The error message totally wastes my time, as I cannot complete the archiving task immediately. Sometimes it takes me a few tries over a few days for the lock to clear and me to file as usual. Has anyone encountered this problem, and is there a way to resolve it without my IT support?

Specs: iMac OS X Yosemite v10.10.5 (2014)
