Macbook pro non

So i just started using my macbook pro non touch bar and the battery life so far is horrible, im on my second time using this device excited thinking i had really upgraded from my macbook pro 2011, come to find out my battery lasts only 5 hrs before i have to charge, keep in mind. I only do light surfing and mostly on youtube. Its shocking that apple claims up to 10 hrs but this is horrible, my brightness isnt even all the way up its up to the middle. Should i return it since im within the 14 day return period? has anyone dealt with these issues? please let me know how i can fix it . thank you
