Why do some albums have pictures others not?

In the albums list on the left column, I notice that some of my albums have round pictures and others have a generic one. Many of the generic ones have Album Artwork so I don't know why they show as generic. Anyone know?

Those images represent artists rather than albums. I believe the artists or their management need to set up the image within their iTunes account for them to be supplied by the iTunes Store. In older versions of iTunes where there wasn't a specific artist image in the store iTunes would use the first album cover, which I much preferred.
