macOS High Sierra and Pages 09

I know it's premature, but in planning ahead do we yet know if High Sierra will handle Pages 09?

Thank you.

The most important feature is "facing pages" with adjustable margins for book publishing with binding adjustments. If anyone knows how to do this with the new version of Pages 6.2, please let me know.

You would have to create a Page Layout document with text regions adjusted left and right for the facing pages. Link all the text boxes to flow the text from one page to the next. For each new page, you'd have to duplicate the correct front/back page and link the text box.

Easiest way to get a page layout document would be to deselect Document Body in the Document Inspector.

Just curious: At this point what does Pages 09 do for you that the current, supported version of Pages not?

Newer versions of Pages, Keynote and Numbers are now free via the App Store.

If you have Sierra you can download them now.

I don't have an answer to your question. However...

The iWork '09 suite has been officially retired by Apple for nearly four years. You can bank on the fact that no one responsible for the macOS operating system, and its frameworks are taking any special precautions to avoid breaking a discontinued suite of applications, or impacting essential features.

If you want to ensure that you have a fully functional iWork '09 suite, use it on an older, standalone Mac running Mountain Lion, or Mavericks. Anything later will start to impact functionality. Or, consider migration to a non-Apple word processing solution — based on the features that you need, and stay current with macOS.

More information will evolve in the Pages for Mac Support Community after High Sierra is released.

To answer your question: No we don't know. Nor will be know until it is released - even if it runs now, something could change as the OS evolves to prevent it running. And vice versa.

Thank you for your suggestion. I'm not quite up to understanding your information......yet. But I will experiment with it to see if it will work with my current project. If not, I'll stay with pages 09 and mac OS Sierra until this project is completed.

Most needed and used feature in Pages 09 still is Mail Merge. Apple never made it a feature in Pages version 6. Apple completely derialized the people who still send postal mailings. It's a shame.
