Re: Apple Watch Series 2 Randomly Turns Off

My wife bought for me a Nike+ S2. It kept restarting on its own. Called AppleCare, was told to unpair/re-pair (big waste of time, btw.), issue still happened. Called again, was told to set up as NEW WATCH, issue still persisted. Called again, a replacement watch was sent under my AppleCare+ plan. The replacement watch kept shutting off. Called again, was told to set up as NEW WATCH, issue still happening.

 

Essentially, this watch keeps shutting off/restarting on its own, and their people tell me there's nothing wrong with it because it passes all their tests. I'm not an expert but I know the watch shuts off/restarts on its own because I've seen it do it when I just raise to look at the time, the last time when I dared to check my calendar....BAM, white apple logo.

 

It's just sitting in the box right now, I'm currently working with another senior advisor (on my fourth now) to figure out what is going on. Nobody has said anything to me about how/why this is happening, the only thing I am sure of is this issue happens a lot, and I've since just gone back to wearing a standard watch again. I'm really disappointed with the Apple Watch.

The restarts may be due to accidental interactions with the buttons on your Apple Watch (such as by the back of your hand pressing and holding down both buttons when your wrist is flexed), resulting in it force restarting.

 

If so, one or other of the following steps may help:

 

  • Wear your Apple Watch a little further up your arm, away from your flexing wrist.

 

  • Wear your Apple Watch with the buttons on the other side:
    • Apple Watch watch can be worn on either wrist and with the buttons on either side.
    • To change the configuration:
      • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Watch Orientation > choose the preferred wrist and the side on which the buttons will be located.
    • If desired, to swap the band components around:

For the moment, I can confirm that it isn't from pressing the buttons on the side; I would feel it, and it's crashed it while I'm looking at the watch (i.e., calendar), without not bending my wrist. I have a small watch stand for charging it, and I've seen it crash while on the charging stand (first night I got the replacement). It was spontaneous while I was sitting there, typing away on e-mail on my MBP right next to it. All of a sudden, I see a white apple logo pop up. :shrug:

 

The band is sufficiently tight but not enough to cut circulation, it's not moving around or anything. I only have one band, the same one it came with so I do not have another band to try. Reversing the watch (upside down?) wouldn't be much of a solution for me, I'm afraid, as I'm right-handed and getting to the crown would be cumbersome.

 

The only other issue I can think of is Mickey Mouse can't tell the time without a stutter/crackle in his voice. I was told by one of Apple's advisors this was a "known issue" but that was nearly eight weeks ago.

 

The last crash was while I was looking at it already, went and opened up the calendar then "poof!" I got the white apple logo. (pic below)

As of this writing, I'm waiting for my "senior advisor" to call me back who I've heard nothing from since last Thursday. In the meantime, the watch sits in its box since it crashed on me on last Saturday night. I honestly don't know what to expect from them (apple) at this point.

What was the issue? My watch is doing the same thing...
