This is still not upgrading, what could be the ...

I Have upgraded iwork 09 to 9.3. After I install it, it still does has not upgraded. It shows the latest version as still 5.3. I purchased the iwork back in 2009 from a cd. Everything is up to date as far as operating system goes. What could be the issue or what could i be doing wrong? Thank you
