Contacts merged with husbands now with icloud?&...

My husband and I share the same apple id.  Now that we updated to icloud, our contacts are shared, and we can't figure out how to seperate them.

How do I change my icloud account? It won't let me change the ID on my phone? 

I have the same problem, there isnt an apple webpage to view your Icloud contacts and edit them using a computer? You can only do it with a phone?

You can create a new iCloud account for one of you from your iPhone.

Then use the main iTunes account only for Apple Purchases.

You may also need to unlink the 2 accounts in your contacts, so they both appear separately.

Another, and easier solution would be to create a folder in iCloud for one persons contacts or both. The folders will show up on the phone, as well as all contacts. My wife and I have a similar problem, she uses a much smaller subset of the Master collection of contacts. The way I solved this problem for us is to create a folder called family and friends in which I put all contacts that my wife uses and she uses that folder on her phone and I use the all contacts.  This works very well for us while allowing us to still be able to share the contacts and update the master list.

Awesome! But how do you manage contact group folders on iCloud? Where do I go to do that?

If you were looking at your contacts screen in iCloud, there is what appears to be a little red flag at the top of screen. That red flag switches you'll to a group view of some sort. Once in this group view there should be a + which you can use to create a new group. Once you have the group created, you simply drag contacts into that group.

The contacts don't disappear or anything they are just in a new group as well as all contacts, which by definition contains, well all contacts :)

As I stated above, my wife now just uses the family and friends group for looking for contacts on her phone and I use the all contacts. If she needs something from all contacts she can of course just switch to all contacts.

not sure this is what I need though.  I want 1 apple ID for itunes store and 2 separate icloud (me.com) accounts with all information separated (mail, contacts, calendar, etc). 

I set up my husbands iphone and put in my apple ID so my contacts merged with his.  I am afraid to dock my phone to PC until I figure this out to separate them for fear his contacts will add to mine.

You can turn off the contacts sync in Settings.icloud on either of your phones and stop the sync while you figure out a solution that works for you.

Lexi19, you can globally turn off all contacts syncs in Setting > iCloud - as per Busby.

However if you want 2 separate icloud accounts for personal info this is possible.

the way we (my wife and I ) achieve this:

I use the default itunes account for everything. (this includes a .me accounts as well).

We use the itunes account in iTunes and iphones/ipads for app store.

everything else my wife enters her separate .me account (can create at icloud settings on Mac or iphone) for :

contacts,

mail

calendar

imessage

etc..

these need to be put in individually on iphone.ipad and on mac.

for example Address book in its Preferences > Accounts can + - icloud accounts.

I have a similar problem to this. I have just discovered that on my iPhone my ex husbands email contacts are in my email contact list. We have been apart for 5 years and I have a new email address so I don't know what is going on except I have had security issues on other devices. I contacted Apple and they said they can't see anyone other than me on my account and that therefore it must be a Yahoo issue but I'm not so sure. Anyone have any suggestions about what might be going on here please?
