It's possible there is enough dirt between the contact points to cause arcing, which could result in burned contact pins. Clean them thoroughly but carefully with a stiff bristled nylon/plastic brush, possibly a toothbrush.

If that's not the issue, it could be the power adapter itself, the lack of a ground, or an issue with the MagSafe DC-In board. I would bring the Mac and power adapter to an Apple Store “genius” bar for a free diagnosis: https://support.apple.com/contact

I've had two Macs with MagSafe connectors and help others with about four more and none have ever exhibnited burn indications. However, I've seen a few (very few) reports here. The general feeling is that the magnetic contacts on either the computer's port or on the charger itself have become dirty causing an intermittent connection with arcing that darkens the contacts.

If you are concerned I recommend you have Apple look at the computer. There is no charge for an evaluation.
