Lost my mail signatures upgrading to Sierra

I just upgraded to Sierra from Yosemite and lost all my email signatures!  I have A LOT for various accounts.  How do I get them back?  The categories show in the preferences area for each account but show "0" as listed.

How do I get them back?  VERY frustrating!

Create new signatures for each account, but don't fill anything in.  Just give them unique names.

Quit the Mail app.

Go to Library->Mail->V4->MailData->Signatures

Open AllSignatures.plist in TextEdit or ScriptEditor or Xcode.

You'll see the hash string for the new signatures which corresponds to the name of the signature file.  Your old signatures are still there, and are more than likely locked.  The new signature files are unlocked.  Somehow the old ones are not visible anymore to the Mail app.  Just copy and paste the code from the old file to the new one and then lock them.

You should now see the correct signatures in your preferences when you reopen the mail app.  Reassign them to the account and set them as default.

Hi and thanks. I tried the method that was posted but it did not work for me as my client is upgradingin from a slightly earlier version so there is no V4, only a V2 which does not have the allsignatures.plist. shall I just assume this is a lost cause? Thanks!
