Apple Watch Series 3 with Broken iPhone 7 plus

I have a question about this. My iPhone is broken and I will not have another one until the X is out. I have an android phone I can use in the meantime (yes I know I hate it a lot!). Will my series 3 still work on cellular without a working iPhone? Thank you all!
