How can I have water damage if I never spilled ...

The other day my Macbook Air (bought in 2015) would not turn on and would not charge properly. I tried all the hard resets and everything but it still would not work. So I took it to a third party repair service, he said that it has water damage and he would have to fix parts of the logic board. What is weird is that I have never spilled anything on my MBA...ever. What is even weirder is that he said there was someone else who had water damage in the exact same spot on the logic board. So I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had water damage on their MBA but they (honestly!) have never spilled anything on it? Or what could cause the water damage if I have never spilled anything on it? Thanks.

Forget third party repair services. Take it to an Apple Centre for a free diagnostic.
