iMac keeps restarting randomly...

I have the late 2012 model of the iMac and running high sierra. Randomly, the iMac restarts and makes its restart noise. What could be the problem with my imac

Start by removing any peripherals other than the keyboard and mouse. If the restarts continue, next try starting up in Safe Mode. Let you iMac run in this mode for a day or two or until the restarts re-occur.
