iMac 27inch 2017 Fan noise is terrible, and mai...

Hello I'm writing this as I've got to the end of my tether with this product.

The constant fan noise is actually making me feel sick.. the only time I'm happy sitting in front of this machine is when its asleep ! the only time it makes what I would call an acceptable amount of noise !

I'm not talking about pushing the machine at all just using apps that will run on an iPhone much of the time !! working with this noise makes computing a total drag.. you cannot stop it... its in your face all the time. no position helps its just a constant irritation. Right in front of you and that is horrible if you have a whole days worth of computing to get through. I've even found myself switching the machine off and trying to cope with my iPad instead... that really should not be happening after spending £2000 on a computer.

Mail ... my god what on earth have they done ?

over and over again the mail app will not show the content of mail .. even recent mail perhaps only a few days old !!

I can highlight a mail and it shows a blank message ! just the title but no content .. close and reopen the app and voila it displays that one mail.. but others are still not being displayed.

I've re built mail box re downloaded all off server and made it scroll through them all... wasting my precious time trying to fix something that should just work ! and the next day its back again ... same problem.. I mean come on .. am I to expect to have significant problems like this with ... an email application ? on a machine of this calibre ?

This machine is going back I've never been so disappointed in an apple product . they seem to be truly losing the plot. I was told by the store that as its a custom made to order I would not be able to change my mind later but come on.. its not working properly !

yes lovely 27inch 5k screen ! lovely fast SSD (512gb) love the fact that I can put in 64gb of 2400mhz Ram ! BUT its all ruined by the constant fan noise. and pathetic issues such as the mail application.

I ran the same software on the macbook pro that I sold to raise the money for this machine Sierra 10.12.6 and it ran silent (of course ) and never ... never had a problem like this with mail. by the way I use iCloud as my mail account . but as I said my MacBook Pro never had this problem. same account my iPhone and iPad do not have this problem .. same email account !! so it must be a hardware issue relating to this iMac ? anyone else have any ideas before I take it back to the Apple Store ?

I cannot find anyone else complaining about a 2017 iMac having this issue with mail.

At the moment I would prefer to change this over for a less powered Mac book pro with far less memory but that actually allows me to work in comparative silence when I would like to ! and the LG 27inch screen even though I would be paying far more money around £500 at least for both a lap top and the monitor.. as the whole reason for getting this machine was the 27inch screen ! it seemed a no brainer... its more powerful than a lap top has way more Ram and has a lovely aesthetic pleasing quality .. but as it stands I wish a had stayed with my 2013 Mac book pro that never simply never gave me any issues and was silent unless I was using final cut heavily... thats the only time I heard fan noise. The iMac is constant noise even when checking some emails ! or simply surfing the net etc

Maybe having the MacBook Pro conditioned my ears to expect silence but that is what I would expect to be honest its not even warm and yet the fan is constantly running.. if I put my hand over the grill at the back or indeed make the machine sleep the relief from the constant white noise emanating from that grill on the back is so nice... I hate it... surely It should run quieter than this when comparatively idle. the only relief is when its sleeps or when its off. I chose the SSD as I wanted a quiet machine ! an its ruined by fan noise. in fact this is the second model I've had first was stock and came with the fusion drive but I could feel the lag and found it noisy... so upgraded.. I had both machines here at one point and should have reacted immediately when I noticed this one was as loud as the one with fusion drive ( except for the much lower frequency sound produced when the fusion price was accessed) but I allowed the significant speed improvements of the SSD get in the way of my common sense. I think its the high pitch white noise effect of the fan in the iMac that irritates me so much.. its like having tinnitus ! I mean really like having tinnitus it gets me so bad I have to take rests from it. I can even here it through headphones.. I use open back phones so they let in some ambient noise. I've tried everything but short of having something noisier going on in the room to cover it up... I simply cannot get any relief from the noise unless I leave the room or shut it down. simply Horrible.
