Cannot reorder photos in iOS 10

I'm trying to reorder photos in an album in the photos app on iPad Pro running iOS 10.2.

I can select by choosing select and then tapping the photo, but I cannot drag the photo around to reorder it.

No matter how long I keep my finger on a given photo, it never floats or allows me to drag it.  The best that occurs is that holding my finger over a photo and then dragging downward just selects the rest of the photos below it.

I'm following all the instructions on the various tutorials so please don't just link to them in your response.

Does anyone know why I can't drag any of my photos?

Hi. Not sure if this matters, but are these photos synced from a computer using iTunes?

It’s possible to change the order of images within an album. While looking at an album, tap Select, then tap and hold any image until it starts to float. Then drag the image to another position and then let go. All the other images will automatically shuffle to make room for the picture. Once you’ve changed the order, tap Done and it will be saved.

It’s important to note that this only works for custom photo albums made by the user – default albums like “All Photos” and “Favorites” are arranged chronologically and can’t be edited this way.

This isn't working for me. I tap select but the photo never "floats" no matter how delicately or firmly I hold

Life is too short.

The iOS Photos App is very limiting for arranging and sorting photos/images.

I use this app to organized all of my photos/images in iOS.

Hi GordyUK. Does Select work at all? After you tap Select, when you tap on a photo, a check mark should appear. If that works, then holding only a moment longer should cause the photo to become larger and darker, and you can drag it to a new position in the folder. If you cannot Select at all, then you have a different problem.

What model iPad do you have?

Hi Diana. Yes select does work but the item never goes dark and can never be dragged
