"Verification failed. Cannot connect to Apple I...

Hi! Having an issue with error when logging into icloud. "Verification failed. Cannot connect to Apple ID server" on my 2014 Macbook running Sierra OS.

However, login is fine on my older macbook and iphone. Any ideas? Tried modifying the keychain, made sure time/date setting to automatic, restarting laptop, has good wifi connection, no use.
