How do i respond from my disabled ipad to allow access on the computer after connecting it to itunes?

As stated in: If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

• If you can't sync or connect with iTunes, use recovery mode.

If it's referring to the power button as "side button" it's not working neither volume buttons.
