How to turn off calendar pop

This came up right over something I was trying to record.

You cannot tap, swipe, the thing off anything you try brings a full view popup which covers everything.

As of the last update, I cannot turn this off.

Where you do turn this off, but STILL get alerts?  The previous versions timed out and removed itself. The new worse version stays on forever, even I swap apps.

And it's NOT settings-notifications. Nowhere is there an option to auto-remove the alert. The setting I had was banner but the info is wrong, as the banner does not go away.  Been 30 minutes and it's still there. Swipe left-right up-down, no effect. Touch it and it goes to full page calendar.

Latest iOS and boy do I ever regret upgrading to iOS 10.  Worse upgrade ever. Multiple functionalities destroyed.

ALSO WHY WON'T APPLE LET YOU POST TO SUPPORT FORUMS? I HAD TO RESUBMIT THIS SEVERAL TIMES.
