cannot delete an app (BoxSync)

I am unable to delete an app. I get this error

I've tried running Disk Utilities, restarting in Safe Mode, but not in Recovery Mode to make the machine rootless: too risky I think.

Running OS X 10.12 on a MacBook Pro

The app shows zero bytes, so it's a ghost that can't be exorcised!

Try doing a Get Info (command - I) on the application to see if you can change permissions.

Also try booting into another admin account to see if you can delete the application.
