Sure. Just go to your local Apple Store or authorized retailer and buy one. Then you can review and test it all you like.

Apple would be more then glad to send you one as soon as you pay for it.

There's seems to be a scam going around social media that suggests Apple is giving away iPhones for testing and review for free.

Guess many are seeing if it is indeed a thing.

This seems to be a thing every time a new phone comes out lately, though I see quite a few begging for laptops as well.

I don't know if the scams making the rounds are actually inducing people to go hunting for a freebie, or just opportunists praying on the type of people who do. I suspect it's the latter.

All of this leads to the obvious question: is the OP the person best qualified to do this kind of testing? Shouldn't it go to the iPhone 4 user who was trying to upgrade iOS 7 ---> iOS 11?

Yeah, me too.

Though there seem to be some that want older iPhone 7's  and I have yet to see anybody asking for a free iPhone X.

Most have been asking for iPhone 8's.

Indeed, that seems like the logical option.

I guess that is one of the advantages of having nothing to do with any social media.
