Sierra: Is there any way to show image dimensio...

I just started using Sierra today. I use to be able to see the dimensions of a photo in the finder. With Sierra it just shows "Up to date" instead of dimensions. Is there any way to show the dimensions?

In Finder click view , Show View Options, check Show Item Info.

Eau Rouge... That doesn't work in Sierra. When I click on "Show Item Info" I get "Up to date", not the dimensions of the image.

Yes it does. I am on Sierra too I would not have suggested it otherwise.

So can we go through what you are doing please.

There no such setting (only size, not dimensions). But it is easy to find:

set the third view method (CoverFlow) in the Finder, then go to the picture (or video) and see: dimensions are shown also:

Eau Rouge... Thank you for your suggestion. What you're showing is for the Desktop and that works for me also on my Desktop when I right click on my Desktop.

I need the dimensions to show in the Finders where my photos are stored.

This is an example of what I get when I right click in Finder. I check the "Show item info" box and 'Up to date' appears.  ViewOptions_2017-08-15 08.57.20 copy.jpg

I would love to find a fix for this so the dimensions show under the photos. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you Lexiepex. That's one way to see the dimensions but it's not a fix for what I need. I need to see as many photos as possible in the 'icon' view at one time. Having to click on individual pictures in a list to see the dimensions isn't going to work for me.

Not possible in Finder I think.

Remember that you ask dimensions, not size, not number of pixels, but dimensions.

Use Photos or such.

Unless you mean this:

Right click on an image that is in finder and open with preview app , and click on show mark up tool bar .

Then click on adjust size .

A pop - up window appears , you can see the dimensions of the image .

with this, as Eaurouge said:

Thats very interesting, I have not seen that before, when I open a folder of images in icon view I get the pixel dimensions displayed. Do you have any Finder 'enhancement' apps that could be interfering with the normal Finder functions. I am also interested in the fact that the images in your screenshot have green ticks on them, what software is causing that.

In icon view the dimensions are normally shown. I agree with Eau Rouge, you must have some third-party software that is causing "Up to date" and the green tick mark to be displayed. It's certainly not normal for MacOS.

Eau Rouge... Can you give me examples of Finder 'enhancements'?... Of what to look for? I haven't added any apps on this new computer.

The green check marks have always been there. When I transfer a photo or edit a photo there will be a blue double arrow circle for a few seconds and like in the screenshot... Then change to the green check mark.

dialabrain... I haven't added anything to this new computer.

The green check marks have been showing on my photos for as long as I can remember. You can see the photo I showed Eau Rouge that I also have the blue double arrows that show when I've transferred or edited a photo in some way. It changes to the green check mark when the action is completed.

If you can think of anything that might be interfering with showing the dimensions, I would love to find an answer so I can change/fix the problem.
