how do i sync my text messages from iPhone

My macbook air, used to be synced with my iPhone 6. My phone broke and it was replaced. Ever since then I have not been able to sync my text messages with my laptop. How do I get them synced back together?

Turn your bluetooth on for both devices open iMessage on the computer and make sure your 'available' on iMessage via the computer.

This is not helpful because the problem, which is the same problem I am having, is clearly with the iPhone because it was the iPhone that was replaced, not the computer.
