Apple Watch Mic Problems

My Apple Watch had been working fine up until today, went to send a text and the mic didnt pick any sound up. Tried shutting off the watch and turning it back on but the mic still didnt work.

From your post I see that the microphone on your Apple Watch is not picking up your voice when you try to dictate a message.  Since you've already tried restarting and the issue still occurs, next I would like you to unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone, and then pair your Apple Watch again.

The first time this happened I went through the setup, unpair watch, reload, etc. Had no effect. Took it to Apple Store, no replacement, waited almost two weeks while they sent it in for "repair". Sent out a new watch to the store.

Guess what... same thing happened a few months later with the new watch. Talked with Apple Support, tried the same software resets, no effect. Sending it back again through home repair. Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue but don't notice right away because I use it only occasionally to send messages or use Siri.

Anyone else having same issues with microphone that stops working in their watch? Apple Care has been great in working with replacements but frustrating to be without a watch waiting for the "repairs".

yes i am having the same problem too, i tried all the online fixes to no avail, i took it into the apple store today and they asked me to restore my phone to new status and try again, still nothing. I have even tried it with my wife iPhone 6 and still the same i cannot use the mic for dictation, siri is not working on my Watch?

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it is still in warranty or you purchased AppleCare. Mine was found to be defective. They are shipping another replacement. If not call them and they may work something out since you are not only one with a similar problem. Won't hurt, alert they will say is no. By the way, if you do need a warranty repair, use the mail service. Was a lot quicker. Store ends up mailing it in anyway if they don't have a replacement. I am sold on AppleCare, they took care of phone issue also with malfunctioning button. Good luck!

I Have also just been through the phone support (very personable) unpaired and repaired the watch still no good, went through the turn off phone and watch and the. Turn on phone and then watch and restart Siri, also no good. Wasn't going to wipe the phone for the watch especially as I am out a couple of weeks on my back up. So took it too the Apple Store and it now been taken ways for 10 days( seems along time in this day and age) and then it will be repaired. I am a little uncertain how as the receipt shows it as an  unrepairable device?

Abyway we wait for the next instalment. Out of all the apple products I have this is my first to fail, so I guess I should count my self lucky

My wife's V1 watch had the same problem.  Did all that this thread said.  Frustrating:(

Desperate, I took a can of compressed air and blew out the nooks/crannies of the watch.

Still had the same problem.  (this part is at your own risk) Took a needle and gently cleaned out

the two long slots and the small whole on the same side.  Was able to pull a small amount of crud out. 

Blew it out with compressed air again and all works now.

Apple advises that you should not use compressed air when cleaning Apple Watch.

Compressed air can cause damage to your watch.

Really?  You would prefer to take your watch in for an expensive repair or as others have done, replace the watch?

Anyway.... the cleaning I did worked fine and you can certainly try the Apple cleaning process in the link but it wouldn't have fixed my wifes watch.

I completely agree with Joe. I have the same exact issue. I bought apple watch (serie 1 stainless steel) in US (I live in Milan, Italy) and is out od euroean/italian warranty. By the way after latest update the mic stop to work. Apple refuse to recognise the software bug, and offered me to have back a refurbished one for 290€ (the base model SERIE 2 new cost 340€...come on ...). I have to say that support is GREAT but this time I think seriously that Apple messed up. In Italy my Apple watch version was sold for 1080€ ...and I have to receive this kind of treatment.

Are they serious? I hope that with os4 the mic will be back.. no words..

p.s. @Apple Support > IT'S NOT TRUE THAT MY CASE IS ISOLATE ... A LOT OF PEOPLE HAS GOT SIMILAR ISSUE. But finally You sold one more watch... if it's buggy how care? ...290€ and back on the go.... for clients money are paper towels.
