Cannot update to watchOS 4, "cannot verify update"

Hello all

I am getting this error when I try to update to watchOS 4.0: “Unable to verify update. The watchOS update couldn’t be verified because you are not connected to the internet”

I have already done the following:

  • Went to watch.app>General>Usage and made sure the update wasn’t there or delete it if it was
  • Made sure the watch was connected to wifi by disabling Bluetooth on my iPhone and still be able to send iMessages from watch. Re-enabled Bluetooth
  • Manually quit the watch app on iPhone
  • iPhone hard reset, watch hard reset
  • Unpaired watch several times and re-paired it as backup and also as a new watch
  • Restored watch to factory settings from watch
  • Disabled wifi location services in iPhone
  • Tried to update without a passcode on watch
  • Unpaired watch, erased iPhone, installed fresh iOS 11 from ipsw in iTunes, set up as a new phone, paired watch, set it as a new watch, tried to update
  • Unpaired watch, paired it to another iPhone on iOS 11 as a new watch, tried to update
  • In all cases this error comes up after the update downloads and the app “prepares” the update for application
  • I have done this over three wifi networks, all confirmed working and connected

Apple watch Series 2 on watchOS 3.2.2, iPhone 7 on iOS 11

I am going crazy over this, my geek OCD keeps me up at night

Help me apple discussions, you’re my only hope!

Hi

If you have previously used beta software, then be sure to follow the related steps here (under "If you installed an iOS or watchOS beta or developer seed"):

Otherwise, given the extensive steps that you have already tried (thank you for detailing them, to avoid a duplication of effort), I suggest that you contact Apple Support, make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:
