how to erase a DVD

Hello,

I can find the option how to erase a DVD-RW on macOS Sierra.

Hold down the Control key and click on the CD or DVD drive in the sidebar of the Finder, and then choose Erase rewritable disc from the context menu doesn't work any more.

It is stil working on  OS X El Capitan as Apple describe here     ☞  OS X El Capitan: Burn CDs and DVDs

Thanks in advance.

I do found the solution, using Terminal with
drutil -drive 1 erase full
Try disk utility, select the DVD in the sidebar and click erase.

Sorry for the type error.

Thank you for the answer, and Yes, I have found that option, but it is not possible to activate Erase.

Tried to click on Disable and change to Enable just for testing, the Erase option still does not remain active.

How about for lower level users who don't even know how to get onto Terminal. I'm afraid I'll erase things I shouldn't.  Why doesn't the ERASE option work? So frustrating. I can't erase a simple rewritable CD.

You erase a CD-RW and DVD-RW in the Finder. Most optical disk functions have been removed from Disk Utility.

In the Finder, right-click (or ctrl-left click) on a CD/DVD-RW and you will find an option to erase the disk in the contextual menu.

very helpful, found this by chance, but thanks.
