cellular for the new apple watch

Will the new apple watch 3 series be a seperate phone you would have to pay for on your phone bill? or its just the phone you pay for?

Apple Watch (GPS + Cellular) has a built-in eSIM that copies information from the iPhone's SIM card.

 

The built-in cellular features require a carrier service plan for the paired iPhone that also specifically includes support for Apple Watch (including the carrier activating the device on the plan).

Contact your carrier to ask about charges and billing for enabling the built-in cellular features on Apple Watch (GPS + Cellular). An activation fee and ongoing additional charges for the service plan may apply.

Until Apple fixes the activation glitch using your iPhone number, you will have to do a "work around" with a separate number. Verizon associate spent 2 hours yesterday and several unpairing and pairings.  I was fortunate to have a number unassigned to a device and he used that number.  You will need the IMEI # and E-SIM # which is in your watch app on phone settings under 'About.'  Or, on the sticker on the outside of the watch box.  This was with Verizon, don't know about the other carriers.  So far, cellular has worked flawlessly, very happy with it.
