Sending pics thru iMessage

When I take a picture I no longer have the option of sending via iMessage directly from the picture. That icon just disappeared with the update to iOS 11. Can only send via airdrop, Facebook messenger, mail, etc. now I have to first go into iMessage and attached the picture.  Anyone know why or how to get it back?
