Cannot create a CalDAV account on Synology Server

Hello,

I am the sys admin of a small office and we are running a macOS X server and a few Synology servers.

We have a CalDAV Server running on the OSX Server (port 8443) and a CalDAV server on one of the Synology servers (port 5006).

The problem is as follows:

From the Internet my users cannot create/access their CalDAV accounts on our Synology server when they use a Macbook Pro or a Macbook Air running 10.12.6. On the other hand, they have no problem at all accessing their CalDAV accounts with their iPhones and iPad's (iOS 7 -10).

I have read numerous reports on the Internet claiming that Apple's CalDAV client is buggy since El Capitan, and I indeed can confirm that when I tested our Synology CalDAV server on machines running Yosemite it was working fine.

I cannot find any Console connection log file data on the Macs that could give me a hint where to search for an answer.

Can anyone help ?
