Series 3 cellular model with no data plan

If I was to purchase a series 3 watch with gps + cellular will the watch work if I don’t have a data plan ?  Will it act like a non cellular watch until I get a plan?

Yes, it will.

 

You can skip activating Cellular during setup and return to it via the Watch app when you have a compatible service plan.

Oh good as I am not on EE in the UK and don’t want to be.
