Why does my keyboard keeps disappearing? Using ...

Ever since installing iOS 10 my iPad Air 2 keyboard keeps disappearing intermittently. It doesn't always come back and I will sometimes have to restart. That doesn't always make it come back either. A secondary issue is that my cursor disappears from the text boxes from time to time. Very annoying. I did install a secondary keyboard, Swype, but I uninstalled it at one time but still had the disappearing keyboard and cursor issue.

Try the following all-purpose steps for dealing with erratic device behaviour. They assume that all of the content you do want on the device is in your library ready for restoring. If it isn't see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device first. I would also recommend you copy everything out of the camera roll if you haven't already.

1. Backup device.
2. Restore as a new device.
3. Restore the backup you made earlier.

Use an encrypted backup if you want to preserve passwords, Wi-Fi settings, web history and health data where appropriate. I also suggest syncing with a selection of playlists (unless you're using iCloud Music Library) rather than manually adding content as, if nothing else, the process above is easier to do if you ever have to go through it again.

This is the only option available? I mean, come on. It seems a bit excessive - I'd be doing that every other day with all the bugs I keep finding rendering my iPad (only bought last year) essentially useless.

Why does Apple keep iterating on top of known errors - I'd stil like to find a Bluetooth device that works as advertised. If they can't get the rudimentary things nailed down, I'm going to migrate to a new ecosystem. Insane.
