What if the person that stole your iPod wiped t...

My iPod was recently stolen at a high school and I would like it back.  I have already turned in the serial number to the district deputy so if it is stolen it will be flagged.  We have tried the Find my iPhone, but with no luck.  My mother has other devices under her Apple ID and can see when new apps are downloaded.  Sh recently noticed five new apps that she did not download that a stereotypical teenager would download- things like twitter and snapchat, which means that they have taken off the Apple ID so we could not track it, but not fully so we cannot see what they download.  What might I be able to do to re-aquire this personal possession of mine?

It would be great if someone could get back to me soon.  Thank you.

The only way to track it is by using "Find my iPhone" which MUST be configured before you lose the phone (which obviously you did not do).

Short of simply "finding" it in someone else's hands, you will not get your iPhone back.

The iPod was linked to the “find my phone”. It has not gone off that it was found. Will the serial number help find it?
