Cannot remove an account from Messages

In Messages/Preferences/Accounts, I have my main account, but I once (as an experiment) added a Google one (Google Talk). I never use it and I have made it inactive, but I wonder whether I should remove it, and, if so, how? The '+' sign at the foot of that page is active, but the '–' sign is greyed out. Thanks in anticipation.
