Microsoft Lifechat LX

After updating my Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro to Sierra 10.12.4 I have choppy audio through my Microsoft Lifechat LX-6000  headphones to the point it is unusable. I know the the headphones are not officially supported under MacOS, but I have been using them for a couple of years without any issues since they just use USB Audio. I had a peek in the console and coreaudio is throwing a ton of errors like:

default17:25:16.002560 -0400coreaudiodHALS_IOContext.cpp:1496:IOWorkLoop_HandleOverload:  HALS_IOContext::IOWorkLoop_HandleOverload: Overload on context 163 current time: 5197405 deadline: 5197943
default17:25:16.014507 -0400coreaudiodHALS_IOA1Engine.cpp:349:EndWriting:  HALS_IOA1Engine::EndWriting: got an error from the kernel trap, Error: 0xE00002D7

Has anyone else seen this problem with other USB audio devices since the update?

Exact same issue on 2 different macbook pro's. Called support 2 times and they know nothing about it.

I have this issue as well. Tried two different headsets of the same make and model on a Macbook Pro running 10.12.4 and both gave the same results. I also tried the same headsets on another Macbook Pro that is running 10.12.3 and they work fine with no issues.

exactly the same issue with same model/make

same tests than mbudhi and same results.

please help!

I have the same issue too with a 13" Macbook Pro but plug the headset in to my late 2009 iMac and it works perfect

I've been using the headset for over a year without any issues.

Now after the update to 10.12.4 the audio is all chopped up and I can hear a buzz in the headset.

Set up a recording using Quicktime or Audacity and it is unusable.

I've unplugged other USB devices, rebooted the machine, exited all other applications and still the issue is present.

Apple support please look in to this issue asap

This happened to me as well. It works on a Lenovo running Windows 10, but the same issue happens on a Macbook Pro running Parallels and Windows 10. It seems to be a hardware issue on the Mac

I hope we find a solution, because this headset is brilliant but it's not supported by Microsoft on Mac.

People have posted that they were able to get the headsets to work by using an unpowered USB hub.

I just tried, but it made no difference.

Is there any reference to your source?

Thanks!

As a work-around I am using a non-powered USB hub which works with no issues.

macOS Sierra 10.12.5 includes a fix for stuttering USB audio. Installing it fixed the issue for me with my Microsoft Lifechat LX-6000 headset (no hubs required).

Thanks for the update!

That worked! I had to go download the update manually; it didn't prompt to update from my system. Thanks Matt!
