The sound on my macbook air will not work.

Oh my goodness please send help!! My MacBook Air (version 10.11.6) [el Capitan], will not play sound. I've restarted it and I hear the sound that it's back on but aside that no other applications will work. I've tried Spotify, iTunes, and Safari. I also tried my headphones, which seem to work fine. I even tried System Preferences and messing with the output on that. I restarted it and while it's possible there's water damage, I dropped a couple drops so i doubt it. Thank you so much for your help!!
