Enough Storage Time Machine

Hi !

I have problem with Time Machine and Time Capsule storage.

I have a 500go Time capsule, and One iMac (250go) and one macbook air (250go)

During few months, everything is ok.

But, I have message with time machine that there is no enough storage, once Time machine is full.

I have tried to fix the problem to erase the backup, but the problem start again, and again...

Any idea ?

Time capsule 2nd generation

A 2nd Generation Time Capsule is at least 7 years old and as much as 8+.  Apple lists this model as "Obsolete".

The average useful life of this model was about 3 years, so you have had remarkably, if not amazingly good luck with your Time Capsule.  But, it is overdue to fail at any minute and will need to be replaced.

If you want to stay with an Apple Time Capsule, the current product is available in a 2 TB and 3 TB version, which would provide 4 or 6 times the amount of storage space of your current model.

But, I don't want to put on trash this time capsule ? Because it still working anyway ?

The Time Capsule will not work for much longer, and may fail at any minute now.

My advice would be to buy another Time Capsule now with as large a hard drive as possible.

But, If you really do want to keep your old Time Capsule......and you need more storage space.....then you have two options:

1) Pay a technician to pull out the old 500 GB hard drive and install a 2 TB or 3 TB hard drive.  Of course, the power supply in the old Time Capsule may fail when it tries to power up the newer hard drive.

2) Buy a new USB hard drive and connect it to the USB port on the old Time Capsule and back up to that hard drive.  Again, the Time Capsule may fail when it encounters the additional load of another hard drive.
