Extremely slow backup

Hello,

I am having trouble creating a backup of my MacBook Pro.

It is a 13" mid-2014 version with Sierra v. 10.12.6.

I am trying to transfer to a Seagate Backup Plus connected via USB. It has 888GB of available storage and I need to transfer roughly 32GB. The last time I successfully used it was in February.

I tried doing the backup last night, however after 10 hours of backing up, only 152MB were transferred.

I was having a 10-hours mix on youtube running during this period in order to prevent my Mac from going to

sleep and stopping the backup (I have changed the settings to 'screen never turns off', 'prevent from going to sleep while screen is on' and 'do not log out for 8 hours', however my experience tells me that my Mac still goes to sleep unless I have some video running).

Anyways, I have tried restarting my mac pressing cmd+R during startup followed by disk repair. This did not help.

I then tried restarting in safe mode, waiting a bit, then restarting normally. This did not help either.
